Martha Schmidt is also a student in the Pontoppidan class for jewelry and equipment at the Munich Art Academy. From her female perspective, she addresses questions about social and gender norms and theabsurdities often perceived in them. She plays with clichédideas and principles, using an intuitive choice of materials.
Her work “don't sugarcoat” 1 & 2, ceramics, kitchen utensils or table objects coated with a sugar substitute, questions the handling of emotions and their role as tools for self-knowledge and social interaction, proposing a balance between emotional repression and explosive reaction as a sustainable path.
